I went to a wedding in New York in June and it was in such a beautiful area, surrounded by nature, since we stayed in a campground for the week. I even saw my first firefly. It was an amazing week and beautiful wedding. We did end up going to New York City for one day, and got completely wrecked by the heat and the amount of walking around we needed to do. Definitely planned too much for just one day, but eventually we will go back, it’s such an amazing place with way too much to do. The day consisted of Central Park, Milk Bar, Midtown Comics, Laduree in Soho, seeing Rebecca Mader on our tour bus, and general sightseeing from that tour bus. I have to admit for only being there for such a short period of time we did see a lot. I also should also add we squeeze in a stop at Shake Shack in Grand Central Station right before the train. We also grabbed a random fully loaded hot dog on the train back to Copake to cure the hunger we got from not eating all day. If you are going to New York, getting a tour bus with an open top is the fastest easiest way to get around town. It was a little pricy, but we saw so much because of it. The one we chose was the Big Bus Tours. Being stuck on that bus for hours though meant no food, something I did not really think about. Thank god for train station food.
