I absolutely loved Deadpool, it was everything I thought it would be and Ryan Reynolds was just perfect for the role. It was just as vulgar and violent as Deadpool is naturally. He was born to play this Canadian superhero, without a doubt. Since I really enjoyed the movie so much, I wanted to make a little something with a Deadpool theme.
I didn’t even realize how easy chocolate covered Oreos are to make, and they turned out so clean and smooth, I can’t wait to make them again. I have never worked with fondant before this as well, and while I didn’t make it, I can’t wait to try more things with it.
For this I used about a pound of melted red chocolate for 16 cookies. I melted it over a double boiler until it was completely smooth. Then I took a little muffin tray (got these small ones at the dollar store to fit better in the fridge) and spooned out a bottom layer of chocolate, placed the Oreo in the center and added more chocolate to cover it evenly. Tapped the counter to even it out, and let it sit in the fridge for a while till it hardens, then they just popped out when you flip it over. The hardest part was cutting out the fondant. The boyfriend cut out a half moon shape stencil for the eyes and put tape on both sides to prevent it from being cut and ruined from the sticky fondant. (Image here) The eyes I just made a thin strip and cut out shapes on an angle to resemble an odd shaped triangle.
The other reason I decided to make these was for by boyfriends bothers ‘bachelor party’ type weekend they are having before his wedding in a couple months. Obviously, his favourite character is Deadpool, and he loves Oreo cookies. Perfect reason to make them, right?!
Maybe a Captian America Oreo next…Dragon Ball… so many options!
